Is Bluey's Happy Snaps 2 player on Switch? What the second player needs

- Yes, two can play on one console. One player takes photos, and the second explores and poses.
- Each player needs a controller. Nintendo says so on the game's page.
- On a Switch Lite, the second player needs their own controller. A Pro Controller is the easy pick, since it charges with its own cable.
- Buying Joy-Con for a Lite? Add a charger. The Lite can't charge Joy-Con.
- It runs on Switch 2 too. The Switch version works there, and there's also a Switch 2 version.
In this guide
Bluey's Happy Snaps comes out October 15. Kids explore places from the show and take photos with Dad's old camera. If you have two kids, the first question is whether they can play together.
Can two players play on one Switch?
Yes. Nintendo lists the game as 1-2 players on a single system. The second player joins in Buddy mode.
In Buddy mode, the main player leads with the camera. The second player can "join in to explore and strike a pose," in Nintendo's words. There's no online play.
How many controllers do you need?
One per player. Nintendo's page for the game says "multiplayer requires one compatible controller per player."
| Your console | What the second player needs |
|---|---|
| Switch or Switch OLED | Comes with two Joy-Con. Nintendo hasn't said if one each works in this game. |
| Switch 2 | Comes with two Joy-Con 2. Same question as above. |
| Switch Lite | A separate controller. The Lite's buttons are built in. |
The game isn't out yet, so the exact controller setup hasn't been published. I'll update this once it is.
What if you have a Switch Lite?
The Lite's controls are part of the console, so they only cover one player. The second player needs a wireless controller.
Nintendo says both Joy-Con and the Pro Controller pair with a Lite. The Lite's play modes cover handheld only, so both kids will share the small screen.

Why does charging matter on a Lite?
Joy-Con normally charge while attached to a Switch. A Lite has nowhere to attach them.
Nintendo's support page says a Lite owner needs a Joy-Con Charging Grip or Charging Stand to charge them. Both are sold separately.
The Pro Controller comes with its own USB cable. You can plug it into a USB wall charger you already own.
Does it work on Switch 2?
Yes. Nintendo's US page for the Switch version says it's "Supported" on Switch 2. There's also a separate Switch 2 version.
Nintendo's pages list the estimated download size as 3GB on Switch and 3.5GB on Switch 2. They don't list other differences.
