Does the Zelda Switch 2 come with Ocarina of Time?

Nintendo announced two things for Zelda's 40th anniversary. One is a Switch 2 in green and gold. The other is a rebuilt Ocarina of Time.
They were shown together, and the console has "Zelda" in its name. So a lot of people assume the game is inside. It is not.
What is in the Zelda 40th Anniversary box?
Nintendo's store page lists the contents:
- Nintendo Switch 2 system
- Joy-Con 2 (L) and (R) in green and gold
- Nintendo Switch 2 Dock
- Joy-Con 2 Grip and two Joy-Con 2 Straps
- AC adapter, USB-C charging cable, and HDMI cable
The same page says "Game not included." That line is easy to miss, so it is worth reading twice.
What is different from a regular Switch 2?
The design. Nintendo showed green Joy-Con 2 with Triforce details and a dock with a gold Triforce on the front.
Ocarina of Time is sold as a Nintendo Switch 2 game, not a special-edition game. Any Switch 2 runs it.
When does each one come out?
- October 29: the Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition console
- November 5: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
If you buy both, the console arrives a week before there is anything Zelda to play on it.
Is there a bundle with the game?
Not from Nintendo. Nintendo Life's pre-order guide lists the console and the game as separate products, with no official bundle.
Some stores sell their own "console plus game" packs. Those are the store combining two products. Check that the listing names both items before you pay.
What changed in the remake?
This is the 1998 Nintendo 64 game rebuilt for Switch 2. Nintendo's store page lists overhauled visuals, voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue, and symphonic orchestral music.
The controls changed too. Nintendo says you can jump and dash, with modern camera movement. If your last visit to Hyrule was in 1998, it will feel familiar and new at once.
